So it begins...
Four small Colorado choruses collaborated and sponsored the first High Plains Harmony Young Women in Harmony Festival in northern Colorado June 26, 2021. After the event, an idea took root to sing together as one larger chorus. The four choruses held a Vision, Mission and Planning meeting August 28, 2021, to determine if - and how - to move forward.
The idea continued to germinate and three of the four small choruses – Greeley Harmonix chorus from Greeley, Colo., Windsong chorus from Sterling, Colo., and The Blend chorus from Fort Collins – decided to continue this journey and High Plains Harmony Chorus was formed.
It was understood from the outset that each contributing chorus would maintain its charter, continue to sing and perform in their respective communities, and compete in Sweet Adelines International regional competition in either the Division A (small chorus) or Open category individually. But there was more – the combined singers would also compete in in its division as well.
This means that all of the members of High Plains Harmony are dual members – something that hasn’t happened in the Sweet Adelines International organization before.
Our mission statement sums it up nicely: High Plains Harmony is an innovative, singer-driven, competitive chorus focused on education and improving the musical, vocal, and performance skills of all members.
